Temecula Wine Tasting Tour
$110/person – Private groups only 10:00am – 5:00pm
The tour begins when you meet your guide and your limo at the Mission Bay Visitor’s Center for our scheduled pick up. Hop on the limo bus, enjoy a mimosa and pastries, and start jamming to hits like “Red Red Wine” and “Day Tripper” on the 1 1/2 – hour ride up to Temecula Valley. Bring your own iPod or CD if you wish to share your own playlist with the group.
The first stop on the tour is Briar Rose Winery. This quaint, boutique, family-owned winery boasts delicious wines. While driving up the driveway, the scenery will have you thinking that you’ve stepped into a fairytale wonderland. The building was built by one of the original artisans of Disneyland’s Fantasyland and Toon Town. He buit it for his wife in the 70′s, and since then has been bought and turned into a winery! All of the wines are hand-crafted, and are made on the property.
They’ve even crafted wine for the White House! The most popular wine among our groups is the Talking Frog, a wine lager. The crisp and bubbly-light taste is perfect for a warm summer day.
After Snow White’s cottage, we headed to The Pinnacle Restaurant, perched up on the hill as part of Falkner Winery. You will be seated and served a choice of either the Santa Barbara Salad, Chipotle Chicken Sandwich, or BLATT. Once lunch is over, you will be guided into the
tasting room for more tastes. Falkner gives you a choice of 4 wines to choose from. Once of the top picks is the 2005 Amante with it’s berry flavors and robust aromas.
The next stop is Leonesse Cellars where our personal tour guide greets us at the barrel room. As your guide talks to you about the process of wine making,
you will be served several wine tastes from a delicious Chardonnay, to a white Merlot, to an amazing Zin. You will be guided through the vineyard to learn about the various grapes of the region, and the differences between them all. After the brief trek up the hill to the tasting area, we relax on the patio as we finish the tasting with sweet and decadent dessert wines.
Time: 10:00am – 5:00pm, 7 hours
Weather: Please check the weather before your departure. Temecula’s weather can be substantially different than in San Diego. Click HERE for weather updates.
What to wear: We like you to feel good while wine tasting with your friends, so please dress as though you are going out to brunch for Mother’s Day. Shorts for men are fine, since it gets hot, but please do not wear offensive graphic tees. Please note that heels are not recommended. There is a brief walk in a vineyard up a small hill at one of the stops, and walking in dirt is not fun when you’re in heels! Summer months can reach up to the mid-90′s, and winter months can get as cold as mid-50′s, so please come prepared.
