If there is one thing that San Diego takes very seriously, it would be its beer. As the nation’s capitol for craft breweries with over 90 breweries in San Diego county, it would be a shame to be in this city and not explore the booming beer scene with a local expert. On our Stay Crafty, San Diego tour in Little Italy, we will introduce you to the history of the craft beer scene; how it all began, and why it continues to grow. We will visit the city’s first craft brewery since prohibition, along with two other prominent names in the San Diego beer scene. We will visit a total of 3 tasting rooms, two of which are working breweries. At each beer stop, guests will be greeted by a representative that will talk about the beers they are currently tasting.
Along with beer tasting, guests will be led through Little Italy where they will pass by street art works of Shepard Fairey, Banksy, and other world-renown street artists. They will also learn about the history of the neighborhood, and how the fishing industry in the early part of the 20th century lured many Italian fishermen to the area. They will learn about the families who have thrived in making the area a popular place to find authentic Italian dishes, and how the neighborhood continues to grow. They will see unique, contemporary architecture, and will also taste a slice of Little Italy’s most popular pizza-by-the-slice stop.
