The Secret Is Out!

 by Woman on the Loose

If you ask me, Victoria has spread herself far too thin to be bragging about any secrets. If you, like me, fail to appreciate the sexiness of hot pink block letters appliqued across your (or your significant other’s) derriére, then follow me on my hunt for genuinely seductive lingerie for grown women…

Enchantress - Mission Valley

One of San Diego’s intimate icons has been around for 20 years (3 years in its current location). Don’t be fooled by the “chain-esque” exterior of Enchantress (1400 Camino de la Reina, Mission Valley)…it definitely has an indie spirit. This small store has an ample selection of lingerie (sans appliques) and bathing suits, a bridal boudoir, and a plethora of bras (up to Size 54/L cup…okay, let’s just sit with that for a moment). They even carry maternity and nursing bras…and, a line of nursing lingerie (I’d like to shake the hand of the new mom who has this level of motivation).

Temptress - Ocean Beach

Temptress (1918 Bacon Street, Ocean Beach) is an eclectic find…and, consummate OB. This tiny boutique is bursting with personality…vintage pin-up meets modern girl. You’ll find unique (and reasonably priced) lingerie, a select amount of men and women’s clothing, and some fun and funky accessories. If you’re anywhere near Ocean Beach, take a few steps off Newport and check out this sexy treasure chest.

Lingerie Lounge - Gaslamp Quarter

A mother-daughter duo owns and operates Lingerie Lounge (431 J Street, Gaslamp Quarter)…as well as an additional store in Mammoth. Filled with unique bathing suits, colorful lingerie, a bridal and bachelorette line, and pajamas your grandmother would not be caught dead wearing, this fabulous store has prices ranging from reasonable to justifiable. I will definitely be incorporating it into my San Diego shopping circuit.

Kapreeza - Little Italy

And, le gran finale…

Renata’s secret is much juicier and far more sexy than Victoria’s. Specializing in European lingerie and swimwear, Kapreeza (2400 Kettner Blvd, Ste. 253) is one of the most outstanding boutiques I’ve ever stepped inside. Lining the walls of this Little Italy treasure are some of the most stunning intimate apparel, bathing suits and cover-ups I have ever laid eyes upon. I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn’t back in Paris. And, just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, Renata opened a drawer. I was eight years old again…standing in front of my grandmother’s candy drawer…drooling. But Renata’s candy was so much more delicious…a rainbow of colors, silk, lace…like nothing I have ever seen on U.S. soil. Just go…now.

The best thing about all of these places? Not once did I have to step foot in the mall…
