Coronado is considered the crown jewel of San Diego, mainly because it has historically been one of the most luxurious areas of town. It is a peninsula just off the coast of Downtown San Diego that is typically considered an island by many locals and visitors alike. A Coronado food tour provides a closer look at the history and culture that made the Crown City the beautiful, affluent place it is today.
Guests are dropped off at the Ferry Landing, the bay side of the island. From here, guests get phenomenal views of the city skyline and Coronado Bay Bridge. They get an explanation of the skyline and history lessons about the downtown area and the bridge. Guests are led to 3 establishments for a food tasting, which includes barbecue, Italian, and gourmet cupcakes. After the food tasting, guests are led to a local brewery for a brief brewery tour for two samples of the local brew. After the beer tasting, guests are picked up by the bus and continue on a drive around Coronado along millionaire row and throughout the affluent community until they are dropped off at the Hotel del Coronado. The guide explains the history of Coronado after which the group has some free time to tour the hotel on their own (So Diego Tours cannot legally take tour groups into the Hotel del Coronado).
